Our mission at Ascendance is to heal and affirm our people through celebration, joy, and spiritual commune with each other and our ancestors.

We are an evolving collective of artists of color who, over the last seven years, have committed ourselves to a collaborative creative ethos in the service of hosting events that respond directly to community needs and desires.

Our celebrations held at Cafe Istanbul in New Orleans invoke the zodiac as inspiration for our aesthetic, musical, and creative choices and draw over 700 partygoers monthly. Previous partnerships include hosting the official Essence Fest after party with Ace Hotel, Afropunk’s Krewe Ball, co-producing a panel discussion featuring Michigan Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib with the New Orleans African American Museum, New Orleans Airlift, and collaborations with countless other local, national, and international artists, vendors, entrepreneurs, tarot readers, and community organizations.

You can find more information about individual members of the collective below as well as more information about our events via our Instagram @ascen.dance. To reach us for booking, press, or collaboration, please click here to visit our contact page.

With love,
